‘My Place’ is a product of inspiration. Inspired by homemade concept and comfortable living space, Pear (Duangkamol Vephula) realised her dream of having her own home and café in 2004. My Place became a haven of where her dream meets reality; her private space to share with others and it became a home outside home.

Pear has travelled on a long hard road prior to opening My Place. She attended Le Cordon Bleu for a month while also attending a Master’s degree programme at London School of Economics. Her great passion for cooking and baking was relentless as she cooked for her friends in London on a daily basis. Upon her return to Bangkok in 1998, she took a brief secretariat job with Khunying Supatra Masadit. Unable to give up her passion and dream, she left the job after three months and started selling cakes on a small stand at Chulalongkorn Friday Market.

A few months later, she opened ‘Homemade Café and Cakes’ which situated on Prachachuen Road. It was there that she first combined her culinary skills with creativity and originated many signature dishes, such as Thai Tea (Cha-Yen) cake, Earl Grey cake, Horlicks cake, Banana Chocolate cake and various salads. Not only that Pear is passionate about cooking, she also places a lot of emphasis on maintenance of good health, that’s why her café offers many types of salad, fusion food and all her cakes are low in fat. Despite the fact that Homemade Café and Cakes was a great success, Pear made yet another important decision in her life, and that is to put an end to the café. Even though it was an end to Homemade Café & Cakes, an end of her old life; it was the beginning of a new one as the first branch of My Place was born – her authentic child of dream, passion and creativity.

Pear’s first My Place was established in November 2004 just off Rama VI road. It was just over a year when she opened her second branch on Thonglor road in March 2006, and named it ‘My Place @ Thonglor’. It marked the beginning of the infiltration of her passion, good taste, and dining pleasure while maintaining supreme health in Bangkok. It is only a matter of time that My Place becomes a way of life amongst the Bangkok elite and the culture of healthy dining with indulgence.
